There are some important things you can do to protect the value in your landscaping while at the same time reducing your outdoor water use.
We have all been asked to reduce watering substantially due to the drought. To help you reduce your outdoor water use, here are a few suggestions:

1. Do It Right:
Don’t waste water by over-watering or allowing water to run off your lawn.
If water runs off your lawn, get your lawns aerated.

Take the time to figure out how much water your lawns and plants really need. Read the watering page to find out how to do this.

2. Stop The Clock:
Don’t let the faucet run when washing your car or watering your lawn or plants.
Set your irrigation timer to water less minutes, and personally witness your sprinklers as they operate (run them manually during the day); a leak can go unnoticed and waste a lot of water.

3. Take Responsibility (gently):
If you see water being wasted, tell someone, but tell the business or homeowner first. They may be unaware of the problem.
Telling the authorities before telling the owner may stop the waste, but at what cost? How would you like to be fined for doing something you were unaware of?
